As part of the tri4all project, a dedicated training activity for para-coaches was organised in April 2026 to strengthen the skills, knowledge and confidence of coaches working with athletes with disabilities in triathlon.
The training focused on the principles of inclusive coaching, adaptation of training methods, safety, communication, and the specific needs of para-athletes across swimming, cycling and running. Participants explored practical tools to make training sessions more accessible, while also reflecting on the role of coaches in creating welcoming and empowering sport environments.
Through a combination of theoretical sessions, practical examples and shared experiences, the training encouraged coaches to adopt a person-centred approach, recognising each athlete’s abilities, goals and potential. Particular attention was given to removing barriers to participation and promoting equal opportunities in grassroots and competitive triathlon.
This activity represents an important step for the tri4all project in building a stronger European network of coaches, clubs and organisations committed to inclusive sport. By investing in coach education, tri4all aims to support more people with disabilities in discovering and enjoying triathlon.
The training for para-coaches confirms the project’s mission: making triathlon more accessible, inclusive and open to all.
